There is no cookie-cutter candidate for this role - we all have different backgrounds from academia, databases, software development, and language design, so we welcome people from a variety of backgrounds and interests. We’d love the opportunity to talk to you if you have software engineering experience and an interest in graph query language or programming language design, or have a background in standards development, or have an academic background with an interest in real-world implementations, or have always been keen to work with databases and language. This role can require some international travel.What You'll Do: - Design Cypher to ensure consistency and coherency in the Neo4j database product. This includes creating detailed documents and presentations, developing and maintaining tools to test language functionality and completeness, as well prototyping new features to test language hypotheses.
- Participate in national and international standards processes to develop a standardized graph query language, GQL.
- Partner with Product Engineering and Product Management regarding future product feature development decisions regarding language.
- Collaborate with researchers and academics working in the graph and query language space.
What You'll Bring: - Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain potentially complex and abstract technical concepts to people with varying levels of expertise
