Job Description

Joint Academy is a digital clinic that offers evidence-based online treatment for chronic joint pain, one of the fastest-growing diseases of our time. Our treatment is backed by science and based on a clinically validated face-to-face treatment and includes individualized exercises, interactive education and tracking tools. We improve the lives of thousands of people every day by allowing them to restore movement simply by following a treatment program that we deliver to them through an app.

The trouble is, although 25% of everyone aged 45 and over in Sweden alone lives with chronic joint pain, not everyone has heard of Joint Academy.

That’s why we need you.

We are looking for a Communications Intern to help us spread the word about Joint Academy and the good we’re doing. This position will work very closely with the rest of the team and will get insights into strategic decision-making while getting the ability to run with their own projects as we build out our communication efforts across our three markets (Sweden, the US, and the UK).

We believe that you’re a recent graduate and that you at a minimum have a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications, politics, international relations, or a related field. We don’t expect you to have worked in communications before, but it’s an added bonus if you have.

What you’ll do:

  • Write: Everything from tweets and media briefs to blog posts and case studies across all our markets. Name it, you’ll write it.
  • Research: Journalists, media outlets, policymakers, ambassador candidates, markets, conferences, calendar hooks, and everything in between.
  • Build: Case study programs, press and influencer lists, conference and awards programs, and more.
  • Monitor: News cycles, press coverage of Joint Academy and our stakeholders, journalist updates, and more.

What we’re after:

  • A self-starting doer: This role will fit someone who is keen to roll up their sleeves and get to work. You present possible solutions when identifying a problem, you always find ways to get stuff done, and you tend to turn to Google when you don’t have the answer yourself.
  • Someone with fire in their belly: We need someone with bucket-loads of energy to come in and help the rest of the team move faster by removing blockers as and when they show up. This can be anything from vetting press lists to researching a journalist or finding a specific type of statistic in any of our three markets.
  • A confident and humble team-player: This is a hyper-growth environment and things move fast. The right candidate will be confident enough to raise their hand when something is unclear and they will be humble enough to realise that it’s impossible to know everything, and that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Additionally, the right candidate will be keen to work with and learn from other members of the team.
  • Someone with an impeccable eye for detail: We’re a science-first company and everything we say and do sits firmly in scientific research. We never gloss over the details and the right candidate will know and understand the importance of fact-checking things both twice and thrice before hitting send.
  • An eloquent speaker and excellent writer: This is a communications role that entails lots of writing, so superb communication skills in both English and Swedish are essential. You’re most likely a native Swedish speaker but you consider your English skills nearly as good.

What you’ll get:

  • The opportunity to learn how to build and run global press offices across three markets while running your own projects. No coffee-making or filing hereyou’ll get to do real work, with real impact.
  • Mentorship from award-winning experts in their respective fields, ranging from PR and marketing to science and data, and a friendly team who’s here to help you succeed.
  • Real experience from a company that’s building the future of healthcare and is going through the kind of hyper-growth that one rarely gets to experience.
  • A decent internship-level salary, a desk at our office in central Malmö, and the ability to work remotely within Sweden.

This is a full-time, three-month-long internship, starting as soon as possible. Applications should include a personal letter of motivation in either Swedish or English, stating explicitly why you are excited about applying for this position. We’re looking to fill this role as soon as possible and we’re accepting applications on a rolling basis.
