We are currently seeking a Public Affairs Manager to join our team in Stockholm, working on policy across the Nordics. As a Public Affairs Manager, you will play a key role in shaping our financial policies and promoting our disruptive and mission-led fintech company, Klarna.Key attributes we are looking for in a candidate:
  • Financial policy literacy: You should have a strong understanding of financial policies in Sweden and the EU or at least demonstrate the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with the subject. You possess a fast mind and are able to grasp complex concepts quickly.
  • Deeply organized and self-starter: You have excellent organizational skills and are able to take initiative. Administrative experience is a plus, as it demonstrates your ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Passion for change: You are not only interested in Klarna, but also super keen about our mission and disruptive nature, and are excited to contribute to our success. You have a strong understanding of what is right for consumers and care deeply about improving financial services and tech policy for end users, not big corporations.
  • Hustle, drive, and can-do attitude: You are proactive and possess a strong work ethic. You follow up on tasks and consistently chase down opportunities to achieve your desired outcomes.
  • Automation and efficiency: You love finding ways to streamline processes and improve efficiency. You actively seek out technology tools and adopt faster, better ways of doing things, and provide timely advice and feedback to get everyone’s productivity up.
  • Adventurous and innovative approach: You are open to taking chances and are seen as adventurous, bold, or innovative in your approach to public affairs. You are keen to deploy innovative strategies and tactics in your engaging policy campaigns.
  • Stakeholder management: You have an established network of stakeholders and are highly skilled at developing and nurturing relationships. You love to grow these relationships effectively.

You might be either in agency, in-house, political staff or a think tank/research center but with a proven background in public affairs advocacy.Key responsibilities:
  • Plan our overall strategic approach for public affairs in Sweden and the Nordics, including implementation and influencing of global and EU policy.
  • Draft and iterate exceptional plans, position papers, policy proposals, consultation responses, and thought leadership.
  • Maintain and grow our stakeholder network through a rigorous stakeholder engagement workstream.
  • Immersion in policy, industry, amp; political, developments to keep the organization up to date with compelling, relevant, and actionable updates and ensure the business responds to public policy and regulatory change.
  • Nurture our retail partners and support them to navigate the regulatory landscape.
  • Utilize our central messaging to ensure it is clear, consistent and impactful for all our stakeholders - customers, merchants, general public, investors etc.
  • Stay up to date with lobbying regulation and be transparent and honest in your dealings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships in your domain and other key internal teams.
