Applied Physics is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Materials Engineer to join our team in New York City. As a Senior Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing materials and processes for the production of our cutting-edge technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and manufacture products that meet customer requirements and specifications.
Qualifications:
- PhD or MS degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- At least 7 years of experience in materials development and engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with materials analysis and characterization techniques, including microscopy, thermal analysis, mechanical testing, and surface analysis
- Strong background in materials science and engineering principles and their application to product development and manufacturing
- Experience with process development and optimization for product manufacturing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
Requirements
- Experience with advanced materials and technologies, such as composites, ceramics, and nanomaterials
- Experience with materials and processes for electronic packaging and assembly
- Experience with statistical process control and process capability analysis
- Experience with materials and processes for high-volume manufacturing
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement materials and processes for product development and manufacturing
- Perform materials analysis and characterization, including microscopy, thermal analysis, mechanical testing, and surface analysis
- Lead and participate in research and development activities to improve product performance and quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to ensure successful product development and delivery
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including materials specifications, test plans, and reports
- Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing and quality teams during production ramp-up and ongoing manufacturing support
